We were lucky to book this place and were excited to try this place, despite the mixed reviews.Food definitely lives up to its Michelin 2 stars. Creative, artistically presented and delicious. Every dish was designed with attention and detail. The restaurant really drops the ball with the service, hence the two star rating. When we first arrived, the servers were very friendly and warm. After sitting and placing our orders, I then found out we were sat right by the entrance of the bathroom (originally thought it was an area for private dining rooms). Entrance did not have a door, so our... table would the first table to absorb all the wonderful air coming out of the bathroom.Naturally I requested to change tables. Our server said they would need to check the availability of the other tables and other reservations times. Which is fine and understandable. However she repeated this twice, as if we didn't understand the first time? When she came back to inform us we could change, she told us that we need to make sure we put our requests at the time of the reservation. This comment really ticked me off. So this was our responsibility? Told the server it was our first time at the restaurant (since reservations are near impossible) so we do not know the layout of the restaurant. How was I supposed to know a Michelin 2 star restaurant would put a table by the bathroom entrance? After we switched tables, the same server continued to serve us. Luckily not for long because everyone in our group could tell she wasn't happy (because we didn't like her unnecessary comments). She was more rude to us than we were to her. I wouldn't accept this level of service at any restaurant we go to, let alone such a high profile one like Raw. Another server became our main server (we didnt get a chance to request the switch, maybe the original server did?) and her attitude was drastically different, for the better. This is such difficult place to book. It would be nice if people working here could show more appreciation towards the customers. Food was definitely Michelin quality but service was not.read more

It was a fun, delightful dining experience. But mostly, it had nothing to do with the food itself. Presentation, presentation, presentation, I did enjoy three or four of the dishes out of a 12-course set menu but I wouldn’t call it mind-blowing or revolutionary either. None of the creative cuisines stuck with me after I walked out of the restaurant but it was a joyful ride, entertaining to say the least. Given the price, I’d say no wonder it was such a hot spot. The staffs were properly trained to bear with one too many Kodak moments from almost every single diner. Been there, done that,... appreciated the effort and the spirit, but it just wasn’t for me.read more

I admire the creativity and the effort on their ways to use local ingredient as well as reiterate local Taiwanese delis. The service is good but sometimes unnecessary kind:One time I was walking out of the restaurant after a meal (paid, of course) and was stopped by the staff, in a firm yet friendly manner.Staff: “Sir, can you please wait?”I: “Something wrong?”Staff: “You need to get in line if you want to take pictures”I: “I just want to leave”She asked me to get in line (to get my picture taken like many other visitors) when all I wanted to do was walk out to the restaurant.For... some guests, we just want to enjoy the food and atmosphere, that’s all.read more

Finally went to raw after trying to book for 3+ years! I’ve heard some people having bad experiences here and was a tad nervous, but also excited to try this Michelin 2 star restaurant.Food- 9/10 As Raw has a new menu every season, I don’t know about the consistency of their quality, but this seasons menu was great! Using a lot of local ingredients and traditional Taiwan spices with a backstory definitely enhanced the experience. Of course, there are 1-2 dishes that I thought was not really to my taste, but all the dishes were creative- while not sacrificing taste.Service- 9/10 Our server... for the day (his name was David) was really awesome! He was great at introducing each dish in an interesting way and answered all our questions. He was also pretty humorous. Cant say the same for other servers tho, one of them brushed crumbs on my lap 🤦🏾‍♀️Atmosphere- 8/10 the spacing between the tables could be wider, but the bathrooms were awesome! Designed as little space pods with complete privacy(as all bathrooms should be)Overall a great experience, hopefully they are consistent so I’ll have the same awesome experience when I go again next time.read more

Food is great but it's not a pleasant dining experience at all. The main reason is because the service is significantly below average ,compare with other restaurants. You would expect more professional service for a restaurant like this. Booking is terrible as usual and you might want to double or triple check the booking if you have special dietary requirements, they don't seem to pay attention to this too much. I specifically noted in my reservation and called them in advance to explain that I am vegan and they seems to be appy to accommodate my needs during the conversation, but they... still ended up trying to serve dairy products and egg to me on the day.read more

Raw has been on our list of places to go for a while. Reservations are still in high demand so it is recommended to go with a group of friends. Larger tables are easier to reserve. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. The blend of carved wooden table tops and metal gives a place a sophisticated yet comfortable feeling. The food this season was good but not really as mind blowing as I would have hoped. The main dishes that stood out were the shrimp dish and grilled pineapple ice cream desert. The shrimp dish hit all the right notes both taste-wise and texture-wise. The ice cream was amazing as... it was a great use of Taiwanese flavors used in a western style desert. The other dishes fell a bit flat such as the porkfloss roll and the duck/cabbage dish. They were executed perfectly and I really liked the new take on classic ingredients but it just came off as too many bells and whistles. The staff were always attentive and explained every dish well. Overall a nice experience.read more

Ambience was great, it sets the tone of the meal. There's an airy, unpretentious vibe about the entire place despite it being a fine dining restaurant. Food was comforting and novel, with different layers uncovering itself in each dish.

My wife and I have been to this restaurant several times in the past. We were entertaining guests this time so I did not snap any photos of the meal. The food as always has been A+ !!! Were were a bit late (30 minutes) because I wrote down the wrong time in my calendar (doh !). But the restaurant was very gracious about the whole thing...(thank you). I look forward to going again soon...my wife and I love this restaurant for a quiet date night.

First off want to give props to our waiter Michael Wang, glad we had him as our server. The service he provided was impeccable. This meal definitely goes as one of the top meals I’ve ever had in my life. We elected for the short 8 course (which is filling) and the tea pairing. Every dish was simply amazing with the tea pairings. The only small negative I would have to say about the meal is the noise level at the restaurant. I’ve been to several similar restaurants in Tokyo and they would require a certain level of privacy and noise level so those who would like to enjoy their meals can do... so.Would definitely want to go again as our waiter mentioned that they can customize your experience differently every time.Just FYI for those interested in price, the meal was 12,980 NTD for 2 short course meals, tea pairing, water and a glass of champagne.read more

Whenever I think about omakase, I always think about sitting in front of the chef while he prepares your food at the bar counter, being able to see them hard at work to prepare that delicious meal for you. Well, I was treated to a different kinda omakase in RyuGin, there's no bar counter, instead you get proper table sitting. I was a bit disappointed initially considering I wanted to watch how they prepared our food. However, each course that came out blew my mind. All the food are sourced locally from Taiwan, yet some of the seafood they brought to our table was better than the ones we've... eaten in Japan. We're told that the menu changes according to season (rarely that different considering the climate in Taiwan doesn't vary much) and what they are able to find in the local market, that's what we get to eat. The menu differs 3 times a year.Service was great, the servers were attentive, they even made us a special dessert for our anniversary on top of our dessert course and our sommelier was well versed in his knowledge of not only wines, but sake alike. I must say, anywhere you go in Taiwan, you get treated with great hospitality. It's something I truly enjoy about Taiwan, their people. At RyuGin, I would recommend to try their own sake, we were skeptical at first, but we've never tasted sake that was so smooth, so polished yet, had a good kick to it. So good that we ordered another flask on top of our wine and sale mixed pairing.read more

Food was good. I wouldn't do the wine/sale pairing again though. It's expensive and not worth the money, primarily because you don't get a full serving of wine/sake, and it's expected that the serving will last you about 2 courses.A better option would be to order a full bottle of sake - they have good colabs with sake breweries in Japan.

Excellent, first time to a two start Michelin restaurant, you can definitely feel the difference between a one star and a two star. The service, food and atmosphere were all impeccable. We had set dinner with sake pairing that allowed tasting of six(?) different types of famous Juyondai. The set menu used mostly ingredients sourced locally here in Taiwan and are changed every 2.5 to 3 months.

Can’t really give a real review tried to make a reservation and they said they are booked till the end of next year and that they aren’t taking new customers. I don’t really know what that last part meant but I guess that michelin review really made it impossible to eat here. Luckily there’s plenty of other options.

Amazing high-quality Japanese food. Each item was made fresh, unique and flavorful. The fish and other seafoods are all imported from Japan - and very, very fresh. The restaurant is hidden within some office buildings and easy to miss, the restaurant space is small - probably ten to twelve people tops. The place is almost booked in advance for months, so definitely should book early on.Japanese food lovers should definitely try this place out!

Don’t really understand how they got 2 stars? Maybe they paid for it. Restaurant decor is dated and furnishing is tired. The table that we sat at looked like it’s been there for 20 years. The Marinated Chicken with Chinese Chili Oil was good, everything else we had was average at best. Some dishes were very salty . 鼎泰豐has better xiaolongbaos. Service was not up to 2 star standards.

Truly lifting the fine Chinese Jiang/Tse (江浙)cuisine to the peak! Rising from the 1st floor to the 17th floor in the high-speed elevator was a kind of joy as well. The spacious seating with a simple but elegant setting makes the dining experience extra enjoyable. On top of all these, the delicate and delicious cuisine was an exquisite dining experience! Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves fine cuisine!

The ambience is really nice. But I’m not sure if it deserves the Michelin 2 star title. We ordered 5 dishes, shredded tofu, spicy beef, sautéed eggplants, pork dumplings, and turnip cakes. The dishes were too greasy and you can certainly find better ones in other places in Taipei.

Though its a Michelline 2-star recommended restaurant, I still fail to give a 5-start rate because 1) uts so difficult to book, and 2) the quality of service level gets poor due to fully-booked to use of temp service personnel and the slow-down of servicing dished....

A Michelin 2 star restaurant. The atmosphere here is quite nice and relaxing, while having a formal or semiformal dining. The food here is very delicious. Every dish presents the creative art and techniques of the chefs. I like the steak in particular. The steak is short ribs cooked well-done, like the way they cook in Wong's Steak, but more flavorful and delicious. Addition of smoked aroma from apple tree woods makes it more impressive. The price here is relatively high, but it really worth, especially in a formal and important occasion.

The food and service amazing here. They are well known for their Peking duck which needs to be reserved 2-3 days ahead. I highly recommend ordering the rice roll with shrimp and lobster inside. Probably the best dish of the night.⭐️4/5 - Food: the food tasted amazing, but I wouldn't say it's fine dining. It's an Chinese restaurant, so expect nice tasting Chinese food, not delicate food. My complain would probably be on the third duck dish, we decided to get congee. Before we ordered the dish, the server mention that they will use the duck bones to cook the congee, indeed they... did, but there was also huge chunks of duck meat inside. I felt that they could have made another dish with the duck meat instead of just throwing everything (huge chunks of meat and bones) into the congee!⭐️5/5 - Service: the waitresses here are well trained. They will show you to the restroom, and even shine a light on you (in low light area) to ensure you have pretty pictures.⭐️3/5 - Atmosphere: the decor was nice, but the dining room was a bit dark. We were sat down in a more open space area, and the tables are quite close to each other. So it became quite noisy while we were eating. It was pretty unfortunate that we were sat next to a table with two kids and another table across us with a crying baby. Probably will make sure to request a booth next time I visit.read more

Would have given this place a 3 star but for their duck of course. Ordered the firey duck, which comes with 20 rolls, for two. The duck was delicious but the condiments were almost verging on being extra. Ordered a vegetable dish to balance the nutrition and it was just okay. The tea recommended by the wait staff was excellent. It roughly translates to Buddha hand tea. The ambiance was comfortable and music quite soothing. Nothing stood out though. I am not sure at all where they got the 3 Michelin stars from. Someone had to have slept with someone, in my opinion.

As a student who ralely try a find dinning restaurant. My feeling of this restaurant is this is a good dinning hall in overall. Unfortunately,I have to say I’m more likely to buy the food what I used to eat in night street or local food store. That is suitable on me.

Overall a wonderful experience, excellent atmosphere, very elegant food that is amazingly tasty. My guests were very impressed and it gave us all a wonderful impression. It really is a must visit if you are in Taipei and want a memorable experience. Iam very glad I had the fishburger before I visited , that was definitely the highlight of the experience! Wonderful!

If you are looking for high end, delicate Chinese cuisine with the perfect atmosphere in Taipei, this is definitely where you should worth every dollar they charge. Every dish was presented in pure elegance and perfection. Even yum cha dishes like the spring rolls, had the right crispiness and balanced taste inside. The Cantonese crispy roast duck 3 way course was worth every penny. We had the duck taro rice noodle soup, the duck pancake wraps and the duck breast slices in sauce (not sure what it's called now) as our three courses. The soup was delicious, full of duck flavour with a bit of... taro flavour (not overpowering at all for people who don't like taro). The staff were amazingly professional, polite and attentive. We were curious about what was the Chinese poem printed on the paper table mats so we asked the male manager on duty. It was Tang dynasty poem written in the traditional runny Chinese calligraphy writing but he not only recited it all, but also explained line by line in plain Mandarin the emotion and message the poet was trying to convey. We were all impressed by the manager's knowledge and professionalism. If you have an important guests to please or a special occasion in Taipei, I'd highly recommend bringing them here!read more

A 3 Michelin star restaurant showcasing Cantonese food with some Taiwanese influences. In terms of the food a lot of it was quite good. But considering that it was approximately 300usd per person (we had a group of 10) , strictly speaking in terms of value, I wouldn't recommend it. The service is not up to the standard of what I would expect at a 3 Michelin star restaurant (it wasn't bad, but it wasn't exactly noteworthy or memorable). Some of the more notable dishes were the almond milk (wonderful aroma and mouth feel.), Turnip cakes (Cantonese style), and the BBQ pork. We also had the BBQ... roast duck (served 3 ways) which was doused in cooking wine and set aflame. The skin was crispy and had a wonderful texture to it. All in all the food was not bad but definitely not much in terms of value. Would not believe this to be a 3 star Michelin unless explicitly told.read more

Very good place for business lunch meeting. The service is perfect and the barbecue pork is amazing but pricy.
