This is a Michelin star winning restaurant in Taichung, we booked a table for 6:00 pm of four about a month in advanced, but we were stuck in the traffic jam, thus we called the restaurant to inform the situation, and the restaurant defers our booking for 30 minutes, although it says reservations could not be defer or cancel on the website. The meal we order is NTD 3800 no menu set per person, excluding wine pairing, it is the set most people order in this restaurant. In the set, there are ten delicate molecular gastronomy dish, it is quite interesting to have this dish, every bite is a... surprise, you could never know what it is before putting it into mouth or asking the waiter. Although we do not have wine pairing this time, we’ve order Italian white truffle as a pairing for the main dish, it adds a different flavor to the dish, it is around NTD 980 per gram, and thus we end up over NTD 5500, it is a bit over the budget, but it worths. All the dishes are well seasoned and nicely cooked, and the waiters are nice and friendly, no wonder this restaurant win a Michelin star in 2020.read more

Settle into this sleek dining room for a three-hour parade of sublime flavors, creativity and plating. This is where food ascends to art. Chef-Owner Justine and team have certainly earned their Michelin Star. The attention and toil put into the beautiful little plate in front of you are untold, though the painstakingly hand-finished Venetian plaster ceiling is another hint that they do not cut corners. Between the fine bread and dessert was a two-plus-hour parade of bizarre miniature complications of food, ranging in taste from mediocre to mildly unpleasant, and collectively nutritionally unsatisfactory. The process involved at least six sets of silverware and even more plates. When someone got up to use the bathroom, a person ran in from the other room to refold their napkin before they got back to the table (?!). I feel awkward about the large amount of misplaced effort wasted on this extremely inefficient food operation.Thinking about the cost makes me sick. Wish I hadn't let myself be... dragged along with people who think it's somehow reasonable to spend 6000 ntd for a single meal for one person.Could have spooned half a jar of peanut butter into myself instead. 生日家庭聚餐5位選在了鹽之華,從推進門開始就是眼睛與嘴巴的體驗開始。因為媽媽吃素,所以一開始訂位時就有特別詢問素食套餐,餐廳也很熱心地詢問哪種素以及有無過敏。服務細緻到位。餐廳位置:餐廳坐落在市政路的高級餐廳區,大大停車場隨便停。餐廳空間:整間餐廳桌數不多,但位子都很寬敞,室內燈光也是很溫和,當日吃飯餐廳很安靜,輕聲細語說話沒問題。3880料理:除了吃這一部分,在飲品也很有講究,餐與餐之間還有清口去味的冰沙,讓下一道料理不會味道混在一起。素食料理:食材也都不馬虎,用了很多較高級的蔬菜、松露、猴頭菇、也都出現了,與肉品料理比一點都不遜色。訂位時有特別提到是慶生,剛好又逢2020跨年第二天,餐廳特別準備了手製歐洲鄉村傳統蛋糕,配上精緻巧克力,收尾也這麼完美。整頓飯吃了約3小時,像是看了一部歐風復古電影,五顆星,滿分。

The chief use many local Taiwan ingredients made the meal, each meal with amazing taste.For appetizer, the pasta taste multi-presentation and dressing cocoa powder with fully aroma, mushroom is very juicy but a little bit bitter and salty that sauce smooth and flavorful, main course of steak for me is too greasy but doesn’t affect overall performance. Every dish decoration and exquisitely, the staff with complete knowledge introduce the meal, at the same horizontal price range will deserve come to visit it.Remarkable restaurant!

It was a wonderful experience what I've had. They've serviced the birthday cake to me after I had told them it was my birthday dinner. The dishes are also delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Awesome French Cuisine located at Taichung! Took HSR from Taipei just because of this meal💕💕The chef is very talented! Not only the decorated of dishes but also delicious! Great service with wonderful meals. How you ask for more!! 👍👍👍

Everything we ate was fantastic, however, coming from the US, the portion was less than expected but still good taste and ambiance. They definitely kept the Michelin star experience in tact here.

We do savor the gourmet and perceive the explanations from natural ingredients around the island. They perform the detail of the culinary art as well as the ambient. We wish there will have different combination of the dishes coming up particularly seafood and fish main course.

Had an amazing experience at forchetta! The staff was professional, knowledgeable and very accommodating with kid. The mashed potato covered portobello was creamy and fresh. My personal favorite was the pasta with pickled vegetables and gizzard with cocoa powder drizzled with chili pepper oil. 😋😋😋

Booked a table for 6, 2 friends cancelled at the last minute. Restaurant tried to charge us for 2 no shows. Restaurant was supposedly "full" with 2 empty tables.5 appetizers took 2.5 hours so we had to kill time by smoking.Food was bland.When we got the check I asked them why we are getting charged for two no shows. The server said they had the ingredients prepared. I told them to get the manager to come talk. Manager came and said they threw out the ingredients after we explained we would pay if they would give us the ingredients. They declined and had the head chef come out. The head... chef said ok don't pay for the 2 no shows. Walks back into the kitchen, comes back and says that we have no class for not paying for no shows and that EVERY restaurants does that.1. No not every restaurant does that.2. You could have taken another approach, but decided to berate us.3. Don't forget...They closed up shop in Taipei and had to come to Taichung.4. Chef should reevaluate his life or maybe even understand the cardinal rule. Customers are always right. They could have refused us service, but looks like they need the money more than me. I'll take it as Charity.AVOID THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL COSTS!read more

店家對兒童非常不友善當初訂位有告知兒子未滿一歲他們也接受訂位但當下吃到一半被主廚出來趕去隔壁空間隔壁沒人高腳椅其實我不在意換位子但當下的態度我沒辦法接受服務人員態度都很好但我無法想像被責怪的當下主廚:叫他們去隔壁 出來第二次說(趕快)我兒子是有吵鬧但我會第一時間阻止我也沒有不顧,如果主廚好好告知我真的不會吃的那麼不愉快如果真的怕環境不好在訂位的時候應該告知不妥或是可以設定不接受小朋友訂位食用他們前菜烤菇燉馬鈴薯不錯吃麵鹹到不可思議

Amazing presentation. Great service. Price is legit for the amount of food. Fine dining style. Great appetizers. Entree is soso. I would go just for their appetizers if possible. Nice vibe. Great selection of beer and wine. Location is convenient with lots of street parking around. Do have to climb up to 2nd floor. No elevator. Spacious. Well designed and decorated. Lots of thought went into. Recommended!

Visited during the Chinese Valentines Day, the chef was lazy enough to go with the regular menu. The ambience of the restaurant is nice and queit. After a full course dinner, nothing standed out or left significant impression. All ingredients didn't match and the flow can't connect. The plates are only good for visual presentation. Our table waitress was bold enough to interrupt our video shot, didn't even bother apologize. Frankly, there are many other better choices for a lower price tag too. Will not revisit.

The presentation was elegant but those decorations not only didn’t add to the taste, but also distracted the overall texture. It’s an amazing dinner, my friends and I enjoyed a lot. The chef use a lot local ingredients and each meal has its own flavor. We ordered steak for main course, the beef is tender but not too raw. A little pricey but worth the money.

肉質中上價格稍微偏高近期到訪許多A5級和牛店來說這間和牛店令我印象很有日本燒肉店的氣氛。新竹的大阪燒肉魂同型的店家。店員非常仔細的說明每一道肉的位置與珍稀度。和牛握壽司令我相當驚豔,肉片生度剛好到入口即化。不過主肉的味道可以嘗試作些醃漬,從這裡可以看到店家對自己處理肉品的信心度。點了兩人套餐,僅最後一道肉品是試探我們偏好後,才用椒鹽作預處理。也因此,我反而對後這道肉品有較高的評價。其中一道出現所謂的松露鹽,非常有特色。整體而言,這家店的感受很好。算是我在台中吃過幾家後,算是日本味比較重的日式和牛店。Google分數是4/5,切細一點我會給到8.4/10

好的肉,真的不能自己來。交由專業的店員來烤才能找到最剛好的那個點。店員也會細心地告訴你什麼肉搭配什麼沾醬是最合適的,棒棒👍🏻建議可以早點來,以免有些特殊部位賣光!整體而言,貴的心甘情願❤

This place imports unspecified quality of Wagyu beef, cooks it over a portable grill, and charges it like it is A5. Most of the meat is thinly sliced and you can’t appreciate the quality of the meat. They use sukiyaki meat as meat for grilling. They also marinate their meat with garlic sauce... they’re so Taiwanese and ruins the meat.This place sells cheap meats as premium quality meat and experience to Taiwanese people that don’t know the difference.The store is tiny and loud. Advertises that they have Hida beef, but it was not available for selection. Maybe the lack of selection is... because of Coronavirus, but I was very disappointed to pay so much for so little and terrible quality.read more

第一次品嚐整餐都是和牛的一餐。今天來慶祝老公生日,因為他愛吃肉,特別點了社長盛和。他們每日肉品都不太一樣,所以組合也會略有差異。整體來說是個很棒的經驗,幫我們代烤的Emily很親切,烤的熟度也剛剛好👌🏼和牛真的很怕烤不好啊!本來怕有人代烤要跟老公會尷尬,但是不會耶~因爲他們烤完就會離開一陣子😆裡面的服務人員也都服務很好,都面帶笑容。當天最喜歡的肉品:⭐️稀有老饕- 直接融在嘴裡呀!⭐️板腱牛排- 不輸給現有老饕,油花也是超美的。⭐️橫隔膜- CP值超高啊,肉嫩且量多,還附上滿滿的蔥花~加購價只要$499!雖然肉量(以愛吃肉的老公的量來說)不算大,但和牛真的吃這樣的量就非常足夠了,因為和牛的油花本身比較豐富,吃過多也容易膩。雖然兩個人吃下來快要$6000,但以這樣的服務和肉質,覺得算不錯了。適合特別的節日來揮霍一下😅P.S.他們店裡有規定每個人都要點一杯飲料/湯喔!不然要加酒水費的樣子~

I had the pleasure of dining here on 4/4, we were met by a courteous staff at the front door and led to our table on the second floor. Besides the wait time until our reservation, we were escorted at every turn until we were seated, which was a nice touch and something that demonstrated the attention to detail that JL Studio offers.Upon being seated we were then greeted by our hostess for the meal, Sharon. She was exceptionally knowledgable and answered each of our inquiries with patience and professionalism. She was thorough and asked us if we had any dietary restrictions or preferences... which she was able to accommodate, even halfway through the meal when I noticed on the tasting menu that there was something I didn't like. Sharon exhibited outstanding attention to detail, knowing exactly when during a conversation to set plates and when to refill our glasses, which I noticed since I saw her in a holding pattern with our refills while my companion and I were engaged in a conversation.The tasting menu was exquisite and even more exciting than anticipated, drawing from inspiration from Singapore, Jimmy crafted a delicate and elaborate menu which truly combined all aspects of Singaporean cuisine: elements that swirled you though the ocean and brought the flavorful freshness of the sea paired with lush greens that delivered you back to land, with reduction crafted from all aspects of the food itself, nothing was let to waste, a true virtuous art that encompasses Asian home cooking. Jimmy also demonstrated the complexity of Singapore with different elements from cultural cuisines found sprinkled across Singapore, with Indian spices and curry coupled with pumpkin bread showcasing the sharpness of the spices gently eased in with the depth of the loaf.The sous vide Wagyu with a sear finish was to die for, perfectly capturing the full range of taste from the beautiful cut partnered with traditional Singaporean seasoning, bringing this French technique home with a brilliant touch of cheekiness with green Samba hidden underneath perfectly touched zucchini. The coconut rice that accompanied was as delightful as it was essential to balance flavoring.No Singaporean chef worth their salt would forget to put Bak Kut Teh on the menu, and Jimmy did not only that but also exceeded expectations when he put a twist on a traditionally heavier dish: the core elements were all present and accounted for, while the traditional sides exchanged for a playful combination of mushrooms that provided the texture while keeping the dish light.The desserts proved to be not only Instagrammable but also irresistible, the plating and presentation showed color and warmth, even with the nitrogen flash frozen coconut which was a genius stroke(or spoonful if you will).The meal which was out of this world, could not have been complete without Sharon, who provided top notch service, and expert knowledge on the wine parings. A great fusion of both Singaporean cuisine and Taiwanese local ingredients. And I love the private space of the restaurant.Food-Visual presentation is pleasant, but I hope the taste could be lighter and fresher in some certain way without depriving of the original design from the chef. The theme of this season I’ve tasted is more Indian oriented flavor, one of big portion in Singaporean food. But since I’m not a fan of poignant curry style, I wish I could have options to select more customized adjustment. Nonetheless I really love the desert! Impressive taste with innovative... style.Service-The waiter is well trained and polite, and one thing to add the point is that when I found a little bug under the edible leaf, the waiter responded quickly to replace me with a new dish without inspection in front of me. But since I can see from the trap aren’t glass window of their cooking area, I know they passed down the plate to be checked with other staffs. Yet the story of ingredient and the unique fusion way is what I think can be improved — please don’t introduce like a robot with a long wording without any pause. It’s not easy to comprehend and didn’t mention how special value it added (like how the chicken from xx region is differentiated from others and how it adds the value to the flavor).Wine-Many great wine choices in JL, and they provide wine pairing as well. But since the flavor is somehow strong and I did love the unique drinks in Singapore like Barley water, Bandung, and Teh Tarik, and how it can be fused with some cocktail to balance the flavor could be a great idea to present Singaporean cuisine, and even make the storyline of the set menu more consistent and impressive.read more

I enjoyed the lunch at your restaurant. I am amazed at the number of dishes that JL Studio chefs made, and they were all so wonderful. Thank you for spending so much time preparing it. The dessert were my favorite! Thank you so much.

Innovative combination of familiar flavors to create a new palette. I had a lot of pesty demands, like "person A doesn't like dairy or beef; person B is allergic to shellfish; person C doesn't like sea food of any kind."OMG, they went above and beyond to accommodate picky eaters like us, customized each dish and made great substitution. Reddit Gold medal to them.

A refreshing, modern interpretation of Singaporean cuisine. A degustation of Chinese, Indian and Malay heritage in a well curated dinner. Kept the authenticity of the culture but executed with audacity to push boundaries. Well done!

Food was innovative, but the wine pairing options really does not live up to standard.the staff was really open to feedback, but not sure if we’d be back again to see any improvements

Wow, wow, wow, 15 wows. Both on presentation and tastes. Overwhelmed by the creativities, yet linked to traditional Singapore eats.Attention to details and courteous services from staffs enhanced the experience.Cannot wait to come back again.

I was disappointed; a little bit by the food but majorly by the service I received. I had booked JL Studio even before it got the Michelin stars. I became a fan after going to Chope Chope Eatery in Taipei (another restaurant by JL) in July and the positive experience made me decide to take a day trip to Taichung to dine at JL Studio. Between booking and the actual dining, the Michelin Guide announced JL Studio winning two stars and I was glad that I had the foresight to book the restaurant. Although the price went up from the time of booking to it gaining the stars.Service:I wish the wait... staff would be more open to having a dialogue about the dishes and the food. In general, the wait staff didn't live up to what you would expect from a 2-star restaurant. They weren't particularly knowledgeable about the food and also didn't seem experienced. For example, one of the explanations included a note that the milk used was from Miaoli. So I asked, what's so special about milk from Miaoli. The wait staff simply said it's a local small farm. (But how does it enhance the food? Do they use any special method like the milk from Chulu? Is it particularly creamy or has any kind of selling point?) And I would have hoped for a little bit more story. Later on, we asked about the origin and taste of after-meal coffee, the staff member also didn't have an answer (it's from someplace in South America but she wasn't sure where and made no explanation on the flavors we would expect).Another service incident was upon entering we were seated at the table by the wall. And since both I and my friend are the analytical types, we began to talk about the different details about the restaurant. As we were chatting among ourselves, some of our conversations seemed to be overheard by the wait staff. My friend who was facing the door noticed that our two wait staff got called over by the lady who appeared to be the maitre d to the kitchen. And upon returning, the lady glanced at our table. The look made my friend uncomfortable since it was obvious to her that they were talking about us. I don't know if our analysis made it seem like we were tough customers, but we were not causing any trouble by making unreasonable requests.Food:Some of the dishes were quite creative. I thought the appetizers were quite nice. Little India was also particularly well done (other than my Indian doughnut being doughy in some parts). But perhaps because of the price going up, the last dish before the desserts was artisan bread with butter. I asked the wait staff that since every dish had some Singaporean tie, what's the significance of the bread to the overall meal. She said it's just in case you still weren't full then you can munch on bread. Somehow the bread just seemed like a last-minute add on with no particular stories to the overall set. The overall storyline was interrupted by bread, if they want to ensure the guests left feeling full, would not some spin that fit the theme like laksa or Singaporean fried rice not work? Putting bread at the end just seemed out of place.Overall, there were highlights in the food, but some other finer details made the experience unpleasant. The wait staff needs retraining in knowledge and in customer service. The food should stick more consistently to the theme and half hazard throw in an unrelated bread. And if you want to talk about the customers, please at least do so discretely or wait for the customer to leave then talk about them.read more

Very good food and service. Some of the dishes were incredible the others not so much, so can’t give it five but it’s still deserving of the Michelin Stars.

It is professional good for the taste.But service is awful, some servants gave wrong description about ingredients and wrong indication of eating bad-taste items.It is also not good that limited wine selection is provided, in a unreasonable price.

初次來到Impromptu by Paul Lee用餐,與友人一起share一份飲料Full pairing。上次來是TCRC活動的時候,只嚐到簡單的bar food和調酒,這次終於能夠專心的品味主廚的手藝、侍酒師的搭配和bartender的巧思,有點東南亞風味,又有些中南美洲的個性,還有分子料理的手法,讓我完全停不下來的品嚐每一道菜、每一杯酒的細節,一頓飯很忙碌的吃了三個小時,感官大爆炸,非常精彩的一餐😆😆😆謝謝大家的照顧,有機會再來品嚐主廚的其他料理🙇🏻‍♀️

An over-rated restaurant that doesn't live up to the expectations. It’s difficult to apprehend how they received those award recognitions.Entrance: one has to walk through a bustling and unsettling 1F crowded and noisy restaurant to take elevator to arrive at 2F studio.Setting: tables are so close to one another that one could literally hear next table guest’s breath and whispers; avoid this venue if you have business to discuss with your companion.Wine List: very limited selection, bring your own wine and pay $500 corkage per bottle.Food: the fish and chili crab dishes were... beautiful, the rest of the courses were simply mediocre.Service: absolutely subpar, the waiter was not attentive at all and could barely pronounce each dish correctly, and in several courses waiter forgot to provide utensil. Quite a disturbing and unsettling experience that made me wonder how this family-diner style restaurant even received any award recognition.Price: NT$4,000+ per person, not the most pricey but its service level doesn’t justify this price ticket.Parking Token: be very patient, they don’t provide parking token on site but would ask you to go downstairs and wait at 1F counter where no one was there to help and guest would have to wait another 5 minutes to get parking validation.Overall: stay away if you can, it’s not worthwhile detouring to make a special visit.read more

餐好吃. 吃的出來主廚高技術. 但用餐氣氛營造的令人蠻失望的...首先要經過一樓吵鬧的pinococo 到後方的小電梯上樓..到2F, 一入眼簾的也是一般的廚房跟裝潢簡單的幾張餐桌. 完全沒有高檔餐廳的質感同樣價位下次會選擇更舒適的餐廳

餐點的用心程度,很直接的反應在顧客的臉上食材道地,外觀讓人捨不得一口吃下可惜當天的服務生一上菜就急著拌飯根本也沒問我們要不要拍照有提前告知是去慶生也不會有貼心的幫忙拍照服務結論是:吃過就好,不會推薦朋友入坑😭
